The Klostergut Paradies is an extensive, 750-year-old complex on an 82-hectare site. We would be happy to organize a tour of this former nunnery, as also of the Iron Library and convent church of St. Michael. The recently restored convent church has a beautifully preserved Baroque interior complete with a stucco ceiling and ceiling frescoes. This, together with its centuries’ old history, make it a monument of national importance.
The three art collections housed in the convent are also a popular attraction. In addition to Peter Mettler’s collection of artists’ impressions of the famous Rhine Falls from the time before the construction of the railway bridge in 1850, there are the 300 or so old prints of the Schaffhausen region contained in the Wyser collection plus the historical maps of the Rohr collection.
